Description
Varlamov, Peter Yakovlevich was born in 1897 in the village of Diyashevo of the Ufa province (Russia) in a poor peasant family. In 1918, during the Civil War, Peter Yakovlevich provided hiding to the villagers. In 1919 he was ordained a priest in the church of the village Preobrazhenovka. To destroy the clergy, the authorities imposed enormous taxes and fees on them. In 1929, the persecution of the Russian Orthodox Church intensified. In the village of Preobrazhenovka there was a meeting of Communists, Young Communist League members and the poor peasants who unanimously decided to close the church. Peter Varlamov prevented from closing of the church, for which he was arrested.
On March 9, 1930, the authorities decided to impose the death penalty on the priest Petro Varlamov, with confiscation of property. The verdict was carried out in Ufa on March 11, 1930.
